Austrian newspaper Kurier reports 3 more people wanted in connection with planned Swift concert attack
Dy individuals were arrested by the authorities in Vienna, as they were allegedly planning a terrorist attack on a concert of the popular pop singer Taylor Swift.
Security has been increased for Swift’s concerts in Vienna. A 19-year-old Austrian national was arrested on Wednesday morning, and a second suspect was arrested in the afternoon, according to Franz Ruf, director general of public security at the interior ministry.
The suspects were allegedly radicalized online, Roof said at a news conference. The 19-year-old suspect reportedly pledged allegiance in the Islamic State in early July, the Austrian official added.
Vienna was the target of their planned attack, and the 19-year-old suspect particularly focused on Swift’s concerts in Vienna, Roof noted.
The pop star has concerts in Vienna scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. They are expected to attract 65,000 spectators a day, with an additional 10,000 to 15,000 fans in the wider area, police said.

Austrian authorities have been put on high alert following the attack launched by a jihadist on November 2, 2020 in Vienna, which left four dead and 23 injured. It was the first terrorist attack with an Islamist background in this country of 9.1 million people.
