Hakan Fidan’s phone conversation with Anthony Blinken
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a telephone conversation with his American counterpart Anthony Blinken, with the main subject being the war in Gaza and the tension in the Middle East.
In a written statement, the representative of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Oncu Ketseli, said about the conversation between the two ministers:
“Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a telephone conversation today (August 12) with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken. During the conversation, which took place at the request of the American side, the negotiation process between Israel and Hamas and the growing tension in the region were discussed.
Our minister stated that the martyrdom of the head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniya, and the ongoing massacres of Palestinians have shown once again that Israel is not willing to work for peace.”
The Turkish minister claimed, according to the statement, that Hamas had shown a constructive attitude regarding the ceasefire and stated that pressure should be exerted on Israel in this direction.
Finally, Hakan Fidan stated that the growing tension in the region is worrying and that “Israel should refrain from provocative steps that would lead to further escalation of the conflict».
