Ukrainian military spokesman said Russia has moved troops from occupied southern Ukraine to other areas, but this does not constitute a major redeployment
Ukraine said there were no signs of Russian military pressure easing along its eastern front inside its borders today, more than a week after it invaded Russia, and spoke of the heaviest fighting in weeks near Pokrovsk.
The military spokesman Dmytro Likovii said that the Russia has moved some troops from the occupied Ukrainian south in other areas, but this does not currently constitute a major rearrangement.
“No significant changes in the size of the forces have been recorded and the number of military personnel has not changed enough to indicate any change or easing of … hostilities,” the Ukrainian officer said in statements to state television.
Serhii Chehotskyi, an officer with the 59th Motorized Brigade, said there was no easing of Russian pressure on the Donetsk region, where Russia has been focusing its attacks for months.
“The enemy, despite what is happening on the territory of Russia, continues to maintain the volume of troops in this direction and is trying to score successes,” Chehotskyi told state television.
Russian forces have used all their available reserve forces in eastern Donetsk and have “really pressed” Ukraine there, he added.
For its part, Ukraine’s general staff of national defense announced that 58 battles were ongoing between Kiev and Moscow forces on the front near the Ukrainian-controlled city of Pokrovsk, the most reported in just one day this month.
