The President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, “strongly condemned” Thursday night a raid by Jewish settlers against a Palestinian village in the West Bank, during which one person died and another was seriously injured, describing the violent incidents as a “pogrom ».

“I strongly condemn tonight’s pogrom in Samaria,” Mr Herzog said via X, using the biblical name for the northern part of what is now the West Bank.

The attack was also condemned by the Minister of Defense, while the office of the Israeli Prime Minister spoke of a serious incident.

The raid was carried out by more than 100 extremist Israeli settlers, who set fire to houses and vehicles. (See video HERE)

Settlers threw stones and Molotov cocktails, setting fire to at least four houses and six vehicles in Jit village, located just west of Nablus.

However, Israeli security sources said it was unclear who shot the Palestinians.

Shortly after the raid, Israeli troops and Border Police officers were dispatched to the site, while law enforcement removed the settlers from the village. At least one arrest was made.
