Today, Thursday, the investigations will continue with the aim, on the one hand, of retrieving the body that has been located but has not been retrieved from the boat, as well as to find the last missing person.

What caused the boat to sink – Judicial investigation begins
Initial reports said that the superyacht found itself in the water’s eye and, after capsizing, snapped its massive mast and began to sink.
However, divers who managed to reach the wreck, at a depth of 50 meters, reported that the ship’s hull is lying on its side intact, along with the mast.
“The evidence we have from the divers is that the boat is intact, turned on its side,” Matthew Shank, chairman of the Maritime Search and Rescue Board, also told the BBC, adding that the boats are not designed to sail in such weather.
Following these testimonies, and while the search for the missing persons continues, the public prosecutor’s office of Termini Imeresese opened a judicial investigation into the incident.
A series of unfortunate events
The missing men were aboard the yacht as guests of Mike Lynch, the tech mogul facing fraud charges over the takeover of his company Autonomy by computer giant Hewlett-Packard.
Prosecutors accused him of inflating the company’s value by using retroactive agreements to mislead about its sales, they added that he hid the company’s loss-making hardware resale activity and also accused him of intimidating or firing people who raised concerns.
However, he was eventually extradited to the US in 2022 to stand trial, a process that ended in June with his acquittal.
His partner and co-accused in the trial, Steven Chamberlain last Saturday while running on a street, was hit by a car and killed.
