According to the European naval mission Aspides, there are fires in five places on the deck
The Greek-flagged tanker Sounion, which was attacked by Yemen’s Houthi rebels last week in the Red Sea, remains on fire since August 23, European naval mission Aspides announced today via X.
The force, which was deployed to the area by the EU to protect international shipping earlier this year, said there were fire outbreaks in five places on the ship’s deck.

Sounion, according to the Shipping Ministry of Greece, transported to Corinth 150,000 tons of crude oil which it loaded at the port of Basra, Iraq.
Mission Shields added that there is no indication of an oil leak from the tanker, at least at this stage.
The Sounion remains where it was moored, between Eritrea and Yemen, the European power still stressed — it is not “drift” unruly, as reported to the British maritime safety agency UKMTO on Friday.
