US President Joe Biden on Thursday accused Russian military forces of firing indiscriminately on Ukraine after the United States announced additional sanctions against Moscow, tightening the noose around President Putin and his officials.
The President of the USA will host his Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto at the White House tomorrow, Friday. The two countries’ leaders have had two telephone conversations in recent months.
“They will discuss US-Finland defense co-operation, which is very strong and is framed by Finland’s close co-operation with NATO,” White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters.
The president of Finland earlier called on his compatriots to remain “cool” at a time when the debate over whether or not his country will seek NATO membership is intensifying.
Last Friday, Russia’s foreign ministry warned that the Nordic countries’ accession to NATO would have “serious military and political consequences”, a warning ignored by Helsinki.
New sanctions package The White House has announced earlier in the day that US President Joe Biden was trying to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to invade Ukraine.
