The French president announced he would begin new consultations with party leaders and figures on Tuesday
Emmanuel Macron excludes the option of forming a government from New Popular Front in the name of “institutional stability” announced the French presidency after the end of the consultations on the appointment of a new prime minister.
In particular, the announcement states that “at the end of the consultations, Mr President of the Republic noted that a government based only on the program and on the only parties proposed by the alliance that brings together the most MPs, the New People’s Front, will face the opposition of the other political groups in the National Assembly” and adds that “in order to maintain the institutional stability of our country”, Emmanuel Macron decided “not to choose this option”.
Faced with obstacles, Emmanuel Macron calls on political leaders to show a “spirit of responsibility” and particularly urges Socialist Party, Environmentalists and Communists to propose “paths of cooperation with other political forces”.
The president announced he would begin new consultations “with party leaders” and “personalities” on Tuesday. “My responsibility is that the country is neither blocked nor weakened,” he said.
