Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg claimed that senior Biden administration officials pressured his social media company to censor content related to COVID-19 during the pandemic, adding that he would not allow that to happen again.

In a letter dated August 26, Zuckerberg told the US House of Representatives Judiciary Committee that he regretted not speaking up about the pressure he faced earlier, as well as some decisions the Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp owner had made about by removing certain content.

“In 2021, senior Biden administration officials, including the White House, repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain content related to COVID-19, including humorous and satirical content,” Zuckerberg wrote in the letter, which was posted by Justice Committee on its Facebook page.

“I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards because of pressure from any administration in any direction — and we stand ready to push back if that happens again,” the Facebook founder and Meta CEO also said.
