The Kremlin also warned that European consumers will pay more if the deal to transport Russian gas through Ukraine is not extended
The Kremlin on Wednesday rejected Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s “plan” to end the war in Ukraine and said Russia would continue the “special military operation”.
It is noted that the Ukrainian president said on Tuesday that Ukraine plans to present a plan on how to end the war with Russia to the candidates for the US presidency of the Democratic and Republican parties. Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
In addition to invading the Kursk region of Russiathe plan, as the Ukrainian leader said at a press conference in Kiev, includes more steps on the diplomatic and economic front. He also said he would present the plan to US President Joe Biden.
Volodymyr Zelensky also said the war with Russia would eventually end through dialogue, but Kiev must be in a strong position, at a summit it hopes to hold this year, to promote its own vision of peace.
“This is not the first time we hear such statements from representatives of the Kiev regime. We know the nature of this Kiev regime,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters when asked about Zelensky’s plan.
“We continue our special military operation and we will achieve all our objectives.”
Russia is currently focused on repelling the Ukrainian invasion that began on August 6 while continuing its own offensive in eastern Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
Peskov also said that Russia supports India’s view on the need for a peaceful settlement, but said it is “more than obvious” that there is no basis for talks at this time.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday he told Russian President Vladimir Putin in a phone call that he supports an early, peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine, days after Modi held talks with Zelensky in Kiev.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin warned on Wednesday that European consumers would face higher prices if a deal to transport Russian gas through Ukraine is not extended once it expires on December 31.
Ukraine has repeatedly said it has no plans for a new gas transit agreement with Russia.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in a daily conference call that if the deal was not extended, Russia could find alternative routes, but European customers would pay more.
