Zelensky accuses Russia of “nuclear terrorism”: “He wanted Chernobyl to be repeated”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today accused Russia of “nuclear terrorism”, saying it wanted to “repeat” the Chernobyl disaster -where the worst nuclear accident in history-, after the bombing of the nuclear plant in Zaporizhiain central Ukraine, the largest of its kind in Europe, by Russian troops on the ninth day of the invasion.

“We warn the world that no country other than Russia has ever opened fire on nuclear power plants. It is the first time in our history, the first time in the history of mankind. “This terrorist state is now resorting to nuclear terrorism,” Mr Zelensky said in a video uploaded to the Ukrainian presidency’s website.

Biden spoke with Zelensky about the nuclear plant

US President Joe Biden spoke by telephone with his Ukrainian counterpart about the nuclear power plant in Zaporizhia, the largest in Europe, where a fire was reported earlier today after a bombing by Russian forces, the US spokesman told the US press.
