The IDF military reported that some rockets were intercepted while others fell in the area
The Israeli military announced early Saturday morning that hit targets in neighboring Lebanon from where, as he said, a barrage of rockets was launched.
The Israeli Armed Forces (IDF) said sirens sounded late yesterday, Friday, in the western Galilee region of northern Israel after about 40 rockets were fired from Lebanon, across the border.
The IDF army reported that some rockets were intercepted while others fell in the area, adding that no casualties have been reported.
The military announced that “hit the sources of fire” and that the Israeli Air Force “hit a number of Hezbollah launchers in southern Lebanon.”
At the same time, the IDF announced that its forces shot and killed two people in the occupied West Bank in two separate incidents, one of which was an attempted attack on a Jewish settlement and the other of which was shooting at soldiers after a car exploded at a gas station.
According to the Red Star of David (also the Red Cross in Israel), two men were wounded by unidentified bullets.
“Terrorists tried to carjack a guard at the entrance to the Karmei Chur community and infiltrated inside,” according to the military, referring to a Jewish settlement.
Soldiers rushed to the scene and killed an attacker who opened fire on them, while they are looking for his accomplices.
In the other incident, a car burst into flames and exploded outside a gas station, the military said.
Soldiers deployed to the scene “shot and killed the terrorist who got out of the car and tried to attack them.”
The Israeli military emphasizes that it is currently unknown if the two incidents are connected.
The Palestinian Islamist group Hamas issued a statement today referring to what it calls a “dual heroic operation” in the West Bank, saying it “is a clear message that the resistance will remain impressive, prolonged and sustained as long as the attack and targeting of the people continues us from the rigid occupying power”.
However, the organization did not directly claim responsibility for the attacks.
Violence in the occupied West Bank has escalated since the start of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, triggered by an unprecedented attack launched by Hamas on October 7 against Israel.
