Russia says it has hit and destroyed the Starokostyantiniv air base in Ukraine using long-range and high-precision weapons, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.
“Russia’s armed forces continue to attack Ukraine’s military infrastructure,” said Igor Konashenkov, a spokesman for the ministry.
“On the morning of March 6, high-precision and long-range weapons were fired. The Ukrainian air base near Starokostyaniniv was shut down,” he added.
Konashenkov noted that a Ukrainian S-300 air defense system had been destroyed by Russian rockets, adding that Russia had shot down 10 Ukrainian aircraft and helicopters in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian army’s general staff announced today that more than 11,000 Russian soldiers have been killed in the country since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24.
On Saturday, the same source reported that more than 10,000 Russian soldiers had been killed.
However, the Ukrainian General Staff has not announced any casualties on the Ukrainian side.
