For the first time since his release from Britain in June, the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange (Julian Assange) will appear and speak publicly.

Assange is expected to speak before the Council of Europe on Tuesday.

The 53-year-old political activist will go to Strasbourg to speak “to the legal affairs and human rights committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe”, after the publication of a CSCE investigation into “the consequences of his imprisonment and its wider impact on human rights, particularly to freedom of journalism,” WikiLeaks explained via X.

After spending the past five years in a maximum security prison in the United Kingdom and the previous seven as a refugee in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, Julian Assange made no statement when he returned to Australia on June 26.

According to his wife, Stella, he is recovering and adjusting to his new life.

“Julian plans to swim in the ocean every day, he plans to sleep in a real bed, he plans to taste real food and he plans to enjoy his freedom,” he said shortly after his release.
