Fighting continues, pending a new operation to evacuate civilians from four cities, with Kyiv accusing Moscow of “immorality”.
As it became known earlier, the Russian army will observe today temporary ceasefire from 09:00 (Ukrainian time and Greek time) in order to open humanitarian corridors in several cities of Ukraine and to evacuate the civilians, Interfax reported, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense.
According to this source, humanitarian corridors will be opened in the cities of Kyiv, Kharkov, Mariupol and Sumy, at the request of French President Emanuel Macron and due to the current situation in them.

Meanwhile, pro-Russian separatist rebels in eastern Ukraine have launched an attack on Mariupol, a port city in the Sea of Azov, with fighting taking place mainly in its western part, the Russian Defense Ministry announced today.
The ministry added that Russian troops had declared a temporary ceasefire in order to open a humanitarian corridor to evacuate civilians from the city, which normally has a population of 400,000.
A spokesman for the ministry, Igor Konashenkov, also said that six humanitarian corridors would be set up around Ukrainian cities today.
“Detailed information on the humanitarian corridors has been given in advance to the Ukrainian side,” he explained.
He said Russia had shot down three Ukrainian Su-27 fighter jets, one Su-25, two helicopters and several drones.

The death toll from the bombings in the city of Irpin at noon is estimated at eight, according to the mayor of the city.
Among them are two parents with their two children.
The moments were frightening, according to SKAI’s correspondent in Kyiv, Miltos Sakellaris, who was with SKAI’s crew near the bombing site:
“We were watching the civilians leave and suddenly we started hearing shells. They were constantly falling, people panicked and started running while holding suitcases. Many parents lost their children and were looking for them. The way they were attacked was shocking. “Immediately after we heard bombings again, we quickly got in the car and returned to Kyiv.”
Russia’s stance on humanitarian corridors ‘completely immoral’, says Kyiv
Ukraine has complained that the Russian proposal for humanitarian corridors is “Completely immoral”after Moscow announced that it would allow civilians to leave on the condition that they resort to Russia or Belarus
A spokesman for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukrainian citizens should be able to flee to Ukrainian territory, and accused Moscow of thwarting previous attempts to evacuate Ukrainian cities.
“It’s a completely immoral story. “People’s suffering is being used to create the desired television image,” the spokesman wrote in a text message.
“These are citizens of Ukraine, they should have the right to resort to Ukrainian territory,” he added.
