Israel’s ground invasion of Lebanon has begun, in the form of targeted attacks, with the wider Middle East region now being driven into uncharted waters, confirming fears in recent days of an escalation of the conflict.

According to information, the invasion of the Israeli forces in Lebanon started from three fronts, specifically from the areas Metula, Meshgav Am and Kfar Giladi. Israeli sources said the initial goal of the ground operation is to destroy Hezbollah positions near the border.

Israeli tanks crossed the border with helicopter support and are operating in the Rmeish area, pounding Hezbollah positions with heavy artillery.

Earlier, there was heavy movement on Israel’s northern border as Israeli reserves arrived at assembly points ahead of the ground operation in Lebanon.

In Kiryat Shmona, an Israeli border town, at least 24 military Humvees were seen carrying troops in full combat gear, including night vision goggles. Dozens of logistics trucks, some armored, also arrived at the northern border with Lebanon.

There was a previous article by the Washington Post, which stated that Israel’s ground operation was a matter of hours as the American leadership had now been informed of the development.

In fact, the same publication, citing an American official, said that the Israelis were going to proceed with a limited-scale intervention and would focus on the destruction of Hezbollah rocket launchers and weapons and other infrastructure, and then the withdrawal of forces.

Israel’s campaign in Lebanon will be smaller than its last war against Hezbollah in 2006 and will focus on destroying the group’s militant infrastructure along the border to eliminate the threat to Israeli border communities, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

At the same time, according to the same source, the Israelis will carry out limited raids on some villages along the border, as the Israeli army announced on Monday morning.
