OR Germany, France and Switzerland today called on their citizens to leave Iran, after the Iranian attack on Israeli soil and the threats of retaliation from Israel.

“It is requested by them Germans citizens to leave Iran,” Germany’s foreign ministry said in a revised travel advisory. Berlin has also asked Germans not to travel to the country.

The website of the French embassy in Tehran states that it is “recommended” to French who reside permanently in Iran and are able to leave temporarily, to do so once international air flights resume. “It is recalled that we recommend the French, non-residents, to avoid coming to Iran. For those who will nevertheless be here, we recommend that they limit their movements, avoid gatherings and leave Iranian territory as soon as possible once the airspace is open again,” the embassy added.

The same message is addressed by Switzerland to their citizens. “We advise citizens with Swiss citizenship to leave the country (including Iran) by their own means, if it is possible and safe to do so,” reads the statement issued by the federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
