Hezbollah launched a massive attack against Haifa from Lebanon with rockets and missiles that managed to evade Israeli air defenses and hit areas of the city.

Five people were injured in the attack, with one of the victims in good to moderate condition, while the other four were slightly injured.

All five were hit by shrapnel, according to Rambam Hospital.

Footage from Haifa showed areas damaged by the direct impact of rockets.

A restaurant reportedly took a direct hit as about 20 rockets flew from Lebanon toward northern Israel, the IDF said.

Initially, five rockets were detected and despite interception efforts, some of the rockets managed to hit locations in the Carmel and Gulf area with the incident being investigated.

At the same time, the IDF announced that it was conducting an investigation after it failed to intercept the attack.

“Interception attempts were made,” the IDF said, adding that several rockets were spotted in the area.

Separately, another 15 rockets were fired at the Kiryat Shmona area, some of which were intercepted by air defenses while others hit the area, the military added.

There were no immediate reports of injuries from the attacks.

In a statement, the Israeli military said that “throughout Sunday, more than 120 missiles fired by the terrorist organization Hezbollah passed from Lebanon into Israeli territory.”

The military will continue to operate against the Hezbollah threat in defense of the state of Israel and its people.
