The US military announced this morning that B-2 Stealth bombers were being used to raid Houthi weapons storage facilities, a “satellite” of Tehran, in the shadow of an imminent Israeli attack on Iran.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces have reportedly carried out multiple precision airstrikes on numerous Iranian-backed Houthi weapons storage facilities in areas of Yemen controlled by the group. They contained advanced conventional weapons used to target US and international military and civilian vessels sailing in international waters throughout the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

These actions, the U.S. emphasizes, were taken to degrade the Houthis’ ability to continue their reckless and illegal attacks on international merchant shipping and on U.S., coalition and merchant personnel and ships in the Red Sea, the Bab al- Madeb and in the Gulf of Aden, undermining their ability to threaten regional partners.

CENTCOM forces targeted underground Houthi facilities that house missiles, weapon components and other munitions used to target military and civilian vessels throughout the region.

The US Air Force and US Navy, including the US Air Force’s B-2 Spirit long-range stealth bombers, were part of the operation.

“The use of the B-2 bomber demonstrates the US’s global strike capabilities to achieve these objectives, when necessary, anytime, anywhere,” it noted.

Estimates of the damage suffered by the Shiite organization are ongoing and there are no reports of civilian casualties. A further update will be provided as the information is confirmed, the US said.
