A few hours after Donald Trump’s election victory and her congratulatory phone call to the newly elected US president, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a phone call with Elon Musk, the ardent supporter and financier of the Republican tycoon.

Meloni herself broke the news with her post on X, where she describes Musk as her “friend”, even posting a photo of the two of them, hugging and smiling.

“In the past few hours, I contacted my friend Elon Musk by phone. I am sure that his effort and his vision will be able to be of great use to the United States and Italy, in a spirit of cooperation, to face future challenges,” the Italian prime minister wrote online.

In late September, a photo of Meloni and Musk gazing into each other’s eyes during the UN General Assembly’s Global Citizen Awards dinner sparked online questions and comments about their relationship.

The photo was commented on in various ways and there were also rumors of a date between the two, which Musk denied.

Their common interests – interests

Musk has business interests in Italy and is looking for investment opportunities in space and artificial intelligence.

In fact, in June, Italy approved a new regulatory framework that allows foreign space companies to operate in the country, even foreseeing investments of 7.3 million euros.
