Authorities in Argentina have made three arrests in connection with the death of singer Liam Payne.

The 31-year-old singer died on October 16 after falling from the third floor balcony of a hotel in Buenos Aires.

Argentine prosecutors said a person accompanying the artist was charged with abandoning him, which contributed to his death.

The same person is accused of making it easier for him to find drugs by supplying them.

A hotel employee and a third person are also charged with drug supply.

None of those arrested have been named, according to the BBC.

Payne, 31, has been one of the most recognizable names in pop music since appearing on The X Factor.

His fame skyrocketed with his participation in the boy band One Direction in the 2010s.

The Argentine authorities are investigating the events that took place in the life of the singer, a few days before he was killed at the CasaSur hotel.

In addition, his home in Buenos Aires was searched nine times while data from his broken laptop and other seized devices continues to be gathered.
