Dozens have been killed and injured in a new early morning Israeli shelling in Jabalia, northern Gaza, about 10 days after the bombing of an apartment building in Beit Lahia that killed at least 100 people, which caused a global outcry.

According to medical sources in the enclave, a residential building in an IDP camp which, according to locals, housed at least 30 people, was bombed.

Footage circulating on social media shows around a dozen bodies wrapped in blankets and lying on the ground in a hospital.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA and Hamas media raise the number of dead in 32 – among them 13 children.

The shelling killed Wael Al-Khour, an official in the Hamas Ministry of Welfare, and seven other members of his family, including his wife and children.

Israel announced the dispatch of military forces to Jabalia, Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun in the north of the Gaza Strip, in order to neutralize Hamas militants who are launching attacks from these cities, but also to prevent their possible reconstruction.

The Israeli armed forces have announced the neutralization of hundreds of militants in these areas, since the start of the new military operation.
