“Without Iran, without China, Russia could not support its military effort”
The European Union is concerned by reports that Iran, North Korea and China are producing and supplying complete weapons systems to Russia for its war in Ukraine, EU foreign chief Josep Borrell told reporters on Monday after an EU meeting in Brussels.
“Without Iran, without China, Russia would not be able to support its military effort,” Borrell also said.
Earlier, Joe Biden reiterated the US government’s support for Ukraine at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil – in his first public reaction since the US decision to give the ‘green light’ to the use of long-range missiles from Ukraine. The American president, however, did not directly refer to the decision.
“We must all work to end the conflicts and crises that erode progress to improve security around the world,” Biden stressed.
He added sharply that “the United States strongly supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Everyone around this table, in my view, should also (do it).”
Moscow may use new weapons systems in Ukraine if Kiev hits Russian soil with long-range US missiles, Duma Speaker and an ally of President Vladimir Putin, Vyacheslav Volodin, has warned.
The Biden administration on Sunday gave the “green light” to Kiev to use such weapons in attacks on Russian soil.
