According to actual vote projections and counting so far, candidates supporting the center-left Democratic Party and the Five Star Movement won the local elections held on Emilia Romagna regionswith Bologna as its capital, and Umbria, with Perugia as its capital.

In more detail, in Emilia Romagna o candidate of the progressive forcesMichele de Pascale, with two-thirds of the votes counted, receives 56.3%. His candidacy was supported by the Democratic Party, the Five Stars, the Italian Left and the Environmentalists, the radicals and the two small centrist parties, Live Italy and Action. This area is considered a historical stronghold of the center-left.

As for Umbria, center left Stefania Proieti won the showdown with the outgoing regional president, the conservative Donatella Tesei. According to the count so far, Proyeti secures 51.3% of the votes and Tejay 46%.

As analysts underline, in particular the result of Umbria can be interpreted as relatively hopeful, in terms of the possibility of creating a broad alliance, of the main forces opposing the government of Georgia Meloni. An effort which, however, has so far encountered a series of obstacles, mainly due to the difficulty of understanding the “democrats” with the “five stars”.
