“We can confirm that the ‘loud bang’ reported in the area a while ago was a controlled explosion carried out by police officers. The investigations are continuing and the restrictions will remain in force for the time being,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The US embassy in London also said in a post on X that police had closed a road near the embassy building, taking “maximum precautions”.
