A new video to the Ukrainian nation was posted on social media by the President of the country, Volodymyr Zelenskyclaiming that the Russian army has suffered the heaviest casualties in decades.
He noted that 31 Russian regular battalion groups have become incapable of fighting.
In this context, he stressed that Russia is sending new forces to Ukraine, after suffering, as he said, its biggest losses in decades.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is cooperating with the European Commission to accelerate its accession to the EU.
Regarding the evacuation of civilians, he stressed that Ukraine is observing the ceasefire along the main humanitarian routes from the besieged Mariupol and called on Russia to do the same.
Zelensky also said he had spoken by telephone with German Chancellor Olaf Soltz and French President Emmanuel Macron about pressure on Russia to release the mayor of Melitopol, who Ukraine said was abducted by Russian forces yesterday.
