The killing of Zvi Kogan “is a heinous act of anti-Semitic terrorism”, say the office of the Israeli Prime Minister
The United Arab Emirates has arrested three suspects in the murder of an Israeli-Moldovan rabbi, the Gulf state’s news agency reported Sunday.
It is recalled that the authorities of the United Arab Emirates located the body of an Israeli-Moldavian whose fate was unknown in that country since Thursday, the Israeli government announced today, denouncing a “heinous anti-Semitic terrorist act”.
The killing of Zvi Kogan “is a heinous act of anti-Semitic terrorism,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office and the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a joint statement, stressing that Israel will do everything in its power “to to render justice”.
Earlier, Israel had described the killing as a “heinous anti-Semitic, terrorist act”.
“The UAE authorities arrested in record time the three perpetrators of the murder of Zvi Kogan, a Moldovan national according to the identification documents he had in his possession when he entered the country, where he resided,” the Ministry of Interior said in a statement broadcast by the national WAM agency.
After it became known that traces of Kogan had been lost, “an investigation team was formed” which “located the body of the victim, identified and arrested the perpetrators,” the ministry added.
“Further details will be released when the investigation is complete,” the statement concluded.
The UAE, which normalized its relations with Israel in 2020, stressed that it would “resolutely deal with any attempt to disrupt the security and stability” of the country.
Earlier, Israel announced that it would “use all means at its disposal to bring the criminals responsible for Kogan’s death to justice.”
The rabbi had been married about six months ago. He was an emissary of Chabad Lubavitch, a Hasidic, ultra-Orthodox movement whose goal is to strengthen Jewish identity and bring Jews around the world closer to their faith.
