President Emmanuel Macron will address the French people tomorrow at 21:00 (Greece time), the Élysée announced this evening, after the result of the vote in the National Assembly which led to the fall of Michel Barnier’s government.

In the wake of this result, the head of the far-right National Alarm parliamentary group Marine Le Pen today called on the French president to take his responsibilities, without however clearly calling for his resignation. Instead, he said he intends to let the new prime minister work to come up with a state budget acceptable to all.

On another wave, the head of the left-wing French Insubordinate party, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, called for the resignation of Emmanuel Macron, saying characteristically that “even if he appoints a Michel Barnier as prime minister every three months, he will not be able to stay in the presidency of the Republic for the next three years.”

On the other hand, the Secretary of the Socialist party, Olivier Faure, did not raise the issue of the resignation of the president of the Republic and called on Macron to listen to the French and appoint a prime minister from the left.
