New round of Russia-Ukraine peace talks at 10.30 – “Window” for Putin-Zelensky meeting

by

A new round of talks between Russia and Ukraine will take place today at 10.30 am via teleconference.

The exact start time of the consultations was confirmed last night by one of the three Ukrainian negotiators, David Arahamia, in a post on social media.

The resumption of talks was confirmed earlier yesterday by both Mikhail Pontoliak, a negotiator and adviser to the Ukrainian president, and the representative of the Russian presidency, Dmitry Peshkov.

Russian and Ukrainian officials have even expressed their most optimistic assessments so far about the progress made in talks on the war in Ukraine.

They hinted that there could be positive results within days.

In a statement, an adviser to the Ukrainian presidency said that the talks held yesterday focused mainly on the situation in Mariupol.

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he had instructed negotiators to “do everything” to close a “meeting” between him and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

In remarks on Russian state television yesterday, the Kremlin spokesman did not rule out the possibility of a meeting between the two leaders.

Negotiators from both countries will have digital conversations today.
