“Turkey will determine its future” – “Mosque visit shows Ankara’s role in revolution” – “Syria’s rebels were not…Swiss Greens”
Triumphalism prevails in the Turkish media for the lightning visit of the “right hand” of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the head of the Secret Services of Turkey, Ibrahim Kalin to Syria after the rise of the anti-regime rebels. “Kalin’s presence in Syria is a message that we have achieved our goals,” reports SKAI’s Istanbul correspondent Manolis Kostidis.
“When the first episodes in Syria had started many years ago and when the violent episodes of the regime had broken out, then President Erdogan had declared that Turkey would go to Damascus, that he himself would enter the Emevi Mosque to pray and visit and the tomb that is next to it, to show the presence of Turkey. This visit by Kalin is a message from Turkey that “after 13 years I have achieved my goal”. In fact, with this visit, he sent this message to the whole world. With this presence, Turkey is saying, “I am a country that has a 900-kilometer border with Syria.” I will not allow the creation of any terrorist organization, or any illegal formation. As I stood by the people of Syria, and as I played a vital role in the revolution, I will continue to exist in the new era of Syria.” commented Fevzi Çakır correspondent of Jiner group.
Blinken puts new pressure on Erdogan for the Kurds
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken reportedly put new pressure on Tayyip Erdogan for the Kurds during his visit to Ankara.
“I want to read you this sentence again because the message it sends (s.s. Blinken) is hidden here. The minister emphasized that the need to continue the operation of the coalition to fight ISIS is of vital importance. We knew that in the last few days the US was pressuring Turkey on the PKK-PYD issue through 4-5 different channels. They stated “don’t fight the YPG groups as they are our allies and fight ISIS”. Blinken said the same in Jordan before arriving in Turkey. And now in the announcement with one sentence he makes it clear that the coalition to fight ISIS is critical, it must continue to exist. In other words, with one sentence there is the important message of the USA” CNN Turk journalist Yunus Paksoy said characteristically.
“HTS chief and his fighters are al-Qaeda members”
“The head of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), and his fighters were members of al-Qaeda” and his fighters were members of al-Qaeda,” journalist Nevsin Menghiu commented on X. “Just to remind something that they (in Syria) were members of al-Qaeda. Later they became independent, they also clashed with the Islamic State, but they are from there. They are conservative, Islamists. That is, no one says that it is… the Green party of Switzerland. Until two years ago they were beheading people” Megiu stated mockingly.
