Commenting on her challenge of Russian President Vladimir Putin about a “missile duel” with the US to show the superiority of the Russian Oresnik missile, the Ukrainian president asked: “Do you think the brakes are safe?”

“European security guarantees will not be enough for Ukraine,” Zelensky added during a press conference during the European Council meeting on Thursday.

Referring to the possible change in the age of enlistment in the army, he said that “first of all we lack weapons”.

Zelensky also stated that there are no Istanbul agreements between Ukraine and Russia. “Ukraine did not agree to the ultimatum of the Russian Federation. Ukraine did not sign anything, there were no agreements. There was a response to the ultimatum from the Russian Federation.”

Putin said earlier today that a preliminary agreement reached between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators during the first weeks of the war at talks in Istanbul, which was never implemented, could serve as a basis for future talks.
