NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte says he disagrees with the Ukrainian president’s critical comments about the German chancellor
The Secretary General of NATO Mark Rutte stated that he sometimes considers harsh criticism of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky against the German chancellor unfair Olaf Solzas reported by the German news agency dpa.
Although Germany has been a vital ally of Ukraine, Berlin is reluctant to offer long-range Taurus cruise missiles to the war-torn country, an issue that angers Kiev.
“I have often told Zelensky that he should stop criticizing Olaf Solz because I think it is unfair”Rutte commented in an interview he gave.
The NATO secretary general added that he, unlike Solz, would provide Taurus cruise missiles and would not place restrictions on their use.
“In general we know that these kinds of capabilities are important for Ukraine,” he stressed, while adding that the decisions of the allies about the equipment they will offer to Ukraine do not depend on him.
After a phone call between Scholz and Russian President Vladimir Putin in November, Zelenskiy charged that the German chancellor had opened a Pandora’s box undermining efforts to isolate Moscow and end the war in Ukraine with a “just peace ».
