Roman Abramovich on EU sanctions list

by

The European Union (EU) on Tuesday blacklisted Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and other oligarchs in a new round of sanctions imposed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The sanctions also bar trade with Russian oil companies Rosneft, Transneft and Gazprom Neft, excluding those related to fossil fuels and other raw materials, according to the EU’s official newspaper.

Abramovich’s name is included in the European Union’s fourth package of sanctions that will freeze assets for those over-rich Russians believed to be linked to President Putin.

Sanctions imposed last week in the UK have frozen all cash and assets held in the UK.

His shares on the London Stock Exchange can not be sold, he can not pay dividends, nor can he benefit from the planned sale of the Chelsea football team, for 3 billion pounds. He has also been barred from entering the United Kingdom.
