A large number of citizens marched against Israel, on New Year’s Day, after the morning prayer in Istanbul – The references to Hagia Sophia
With slogans such as “the murderous state of Israel will be held accountable” and “martyrs do not die”, a mass march of solidarity with Palestine and condemnation of Israel was held today, New Year’s Day, with the participation of thousands of demonstrators in Istanbul.
The march started after morning prayers from mosques in the city and moved across the Galata Bridge with protesters holding Palestinian and Turkish flags as well as a large banner reading “stop the genocide in Gaza” in Turkish and English.

Erdogan’s son, Bilal, addressed the gathering, condemning Israel’s actions in Gaza and speaking of the 453rd day of “genocide”.
As reported by Anadolu, Bilal ErdoÄŸan referred to the deaths of infants, women, the elderly, doctors, journalists and rescuers from Israel as well as the attacks on schools, mosques and temples.
“The masks of the West have fallen in Gaza. Where are the human rights? Where are the children’s rights? Where are women’s rights? Where is the freedom of press and expression? All the values ​​of the West died in Gaza,” said, among other things, the son of the president of Turkey.
Erdogan’s son also referred to the conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque, saying “just as we freed Hagia Sophia from its chains, we will do the same tomorrow with the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
