With her attack on new orleans just three hours into the new year still shocking the world, the FBI is now clarifying that the alleged shooter, Samsud Din Jabbar, acted alone, while confirming that he had posted videos on social media expressing his support for the Islamic State.

According to official announcements, the victims of the attack, which is characterized as a “premeditated and satanic act terrorism“, there are 14 people with the total number of dead rising to a total of 15 – including the perpetrator, who was neutralized at the scene by the police forces. At the same time, a total of 35 are injured, including the two policemen.

For the FBI, the attack was very well organized and according to the deputy deputy director of the FBI’s counterterrorism service, Christopher Raya, the attacker was “inspired” by the ISIS.

As it became known, the investigators found in the white Ford semi-truck, which was driven by Shamsud Din Jabbar, in addition to an Islamic State flag, weapons as well as improvised explosive devices. In fact, as they pointed out, some of them were sealed in portable coolers, which had been placed by him in other places in the popular, for the youth, French Quarter where Jabbar also threw his vehicle into the gathered crowd on New Year’s Eve .

The authorities have also found two laptops and three telephone devices, which are already being checked for further evidence. The investigation remains ongoing with the participation of 1,000 FBI agents and, for now, there is no connection to the explosion outside a hotel owned by Donald Trump in Las Vegas.

It was the deadliest Islamic State-inspired attack on US soil in years, which analysts say confirms warnings from federal officials about a resurgence in the international terror threat.
