The president of the federal police union has blamed the federal interior ministry for the problems in the electronic system of checking incoming passengers at several airports in the country Heiko Tegatz, citing a “problem created internally” by her ministry Nancy Feather.

“It was only a matter of time before something like today happened, which now poses a threat to the entire European Schengen system. For three years, the agency did not have the money to modernize its IT infrastructure. We have already raised this matter with the Federal Home Office several times, but Mrs Fesser has consistently ignored it.”the president of the federal police union Heiko Tegatz told BILD and estimated the required funds at 150 million euros.

The problems, with long queues at the check-in for passengers from non-Schengen countries, are mainly found at Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Bonn/Cologne airports.
