Zelensky’s generals explain why Kyiv will not fall easily

by

From their own “war room” in Kyiv, two Ukrainian generals claim, speaking to the British news network BBC, that the capital of Ukraine “has forces that will make a difference against the Russians.”

The Russian siege may be tightening over time around the Ukrainian capital, but the center of Kiev is still “untouched”, as noted.

Ukrainian generals Krychenko and Knyazev, both in charge of Kiev’s defense, admit their city is vulnerable to missiles.

Rivers and swamps
At the same time, however, they emphasize that “the topography and the soil of the city are on the side” of the Ukrainians. “The city of Kiev is large and is separated by rivers, not only from the great Dnieper that divides Kyiv in two but also from its tributaries,” the BBC quoted Ukrainian General Andriy Krychenko as saying.

Bridges
The Ukrainian side also stresses that it has blown up “strategic bridges”, thus preventing the Russians from invading, if they want to get closer to the center of Kiev, they will now have to cross swampy areas, which is very difficult, especially if one considers no one that the Ukrainian side is “waiting” at many of these points to hit them from a distance of course.

It is recalled that the Ukrainians have not only destroyed bridges to prevent the movement of the Russians. It is also said that some areas north of Kiev, through which Russian forces were to pass, were deliberately flooded.
