Cold and freezing temperatures are sweeping and paralyzing much of the US, and millions of residents in more than 10 states are facing the worst blizzard in decades. Four states have already declared a state of emergency and the thermometer is even dropping 10 degrees below 0. Bad weather chaos is also taking place in Germany, with severe problems at the country’s airports and new snowfall warnings in the UK.

From Kansas to New Jersey and from Missouri to the US capital, states have gone into the fridge. The roads are ice rinks and movement is almost impossible.

A state of emergency has been declared in Kansas, Kentucky, Arkansas, and Virginia. Hundreds of flights are canceled and thousands are delayed due to bad weather. Schools and government offices have been locked down as the thermometer has frozen to -10 degrees Celsius in some areas. At the same time, thousands of households are in the dark and the street is cold, due to damage to the electricity supply network.

The severe weather is now moving northeast with residents and authorities in Washington bracing for heavy snowfall and bitter cold while the central US states remain in Siberian conditions.

At GermanyFrankfurt, Munich, Bad Württemberg are just some of the German cities that are facing a severe wave of bad weather.

The frost on the road surface caused a car accident on a road in Nota Saxony, with at least 5 injured. Drivers were trapped in the snow as blizzards spread from the southwest, putting almost all of Germany on alert.

At the same time, new snowfall warnings are being recorded at United Kingdomwith Southern England also facing the risk of flooding.

There have been countless low-speed collisions, road closures due to truck stops. All roads leading from north-west England to the north-east are all closed in one direction, reports the BBC’s Nick Carnett.

The British Authorities are calling on citizens to be alert for snow storms and extreme weather events.
