by

Three Panamanian-flagged ships have been hit by Russian missiles in the Black Sea since Russia launched an offensive against Ukraine on February 24, the Panamanian port authority said Wednesday.

One of these ships sank, The Panamanian port authority said in a press release that there were no casualties among the crews of the ships that were hit. The other two ships are still in the area, having been damaged.

“We know that (…) three ships were attacked, hit by Russian missiles, but the crews are all safe, we only had material damage,” said Noriel Araus, head of the authority.

The three ships are Namura Queen, Lord Nelson and Helt, according to the official, who did not specify when they were hit, under what conditions, or which sank.

At least ten other Panamanian-flagged ships are in the Black Sea, according to Mr Araus, who explained that the Navy imposes navigation restrictions and does not allow much to leave on boats.

The Panama Classifier lists the largest number of ships in the world –exceeds 8,000 boats-, according to the principle.
