The Turkish Foreign Minister sees increased hopes for a ceasefire in the Russia-Ukraine war, Mevlüt Tsavousoglufollowing his visits to Russia and Ukraine.
In a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba in the city of Lviv, which was broadcast on Turkish television, Tsavusoglu said he suggested the 24-hour ceasefire be monitored by humanitarian groups.
He also said that Kyiv proposed to Turkey to become one of the third countries that would guarantee the security of Ukraine, adding that Moscow had no objection to that.

In addition, Tsavousoglou stated that Putin and Zelensky will have to meet.
The Turkish Foreign Minister also noted that more than 100 Turkish citizens remain in Mariupol.
Kuleba: Ukraine-Turkey talks on Putin-Zelensky meeting
For his part, Kuleba said that Ukraine and Turkey will focus on work for a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister added that Turkey is among the countries with which Ukraine wants to reach an agreement on security guarantees.
According to Anadolu, Kuleba said that the “devotion, courage and personal visit” of his Turkish counterpart to Lviv were proof that Turkey is an active player in peace efforts.
“Ukraine and its people appreciate the ‘honest attitude’ that Turkey has taken since the beginning of the war,” Kuleba was quoted as saying by the Turkish news agency.
