“The name of the airport is not only a tribute to the past, but also a look at the future. Vasil Levsky is not just a name from history, it is the embodiment of spirit, courage and the tireless pursuit of Bulgaria’s freedom. The airport is not just an infrastructure. It is the first impression of a country, it is a bridge between states. By giving Levski’s name to the airport, we send a message of honor, integrity and endless pursuit of a brighter future. “ said Kabaliero.
“It was strange that one of the main gates of entry into Bulgaria remained without a name,” said Transport Minister Karadzov. “There was never a question of whether the airport should have a name, but what name it should bring. Among the various sentences, a name stood out, that of Levsky. Not only because he is the most distinguished Bulgarian patriot, but also because he had bold dreams. One of his dreams was Bulgaria to be a member of the European family »said the Vice President of the Government.
Karadzov said that in six months the process should be fully completed – the new name should be submitted to ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and the IATA (International Air Transport Association). Therefore, the register must be updated, which lasts from three to six months.
In addition, the Bulatsa (Bulgarian Air Traffic Services) must update its electronic registries, which appear on aircraft screens. I was assured that this would happen within a month. The abbreviation Sof will not change, like that of Icaothe Minister of Transport said.
“The name Vasil Levsky on the facade of the airport is binding. It is not only a tribute to traditions and worthy Bulgarians, but also part of our future as members of the European family. “he added.
One minute silence was observed in the memory of Vasil Levski.
