Recent developments in Ukraine: Dead and wounded after Makariv attack – US fears over Russian weapons

by

The Makariv region outside Kyiv was attacked by the Russian army.

Houses and a public building were destroyed with the provisional report saying seven dead and five injured.

At the same time, according to photos provided by the Kiev authorities, an unexploded bomb fell very close to the center of Kiev, and then it was found to be a cluster bomb, which the Ukrainians managed to neutralize.

The United States has confirmed that it has used Russian surface-to-air missiles in western Ukraine, and has expressed concern about the escalation.

The Russian Defense Ministry said the missiles were used to destroy an underground depot of missiles and ammunition for aircraft.

However, the video of the strike released by the Russians does not show any secondary explosion, which would normally follow if ammunition and rockets exploded.

Pentagon military sources have expressed concern that Russia could use new, even more destructive and possibly unknown weapons, with the US government pointing to the possibility of Russia using nuclear and biochemical weapons on a daily basis, seeing Ukraine resisting.

The Consul General of Greece in Mariupol, Manolis Androulakis, is expected to leave Bucharest tomorrow, March 20 (16:30), on a TAROM flight to Athens, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
