Heavy rainfall today caused extensive floods in eastern Spain, where cars were pulled over by rapids, schools were evacuated and roads were excluded, four months after the deadly floods in Valencia that cost more than 220 people.

The Spanish Meteorological Service issued warnings about areas of Murcia, Valencia and Catalonia, while authorities appealed to residents to avoid unnecessary travel.

The Spaniards have not yet surpassed the shock of last year’s deadly floods, the worst natural disaster of the last decades in the country.

Many accuse the government and the local authorities of delaying a lot of warning residents of the danger they were running.

Pictures broadcast by the LA 7 television network records the moment when a car drifts into a river in Murcia. One woman was rescued thanks to timely fishermen intervention, reports reports. A man was released by a tractor from his flooded field, according to the La Sexta network.

Fernando Lopez Mira, head of the regional government in Murcia, Southeast Spain, said there were no reports of victims from Thursday’s floods, adding that meteorologists did not expect such severe floods.

The Spanish Meteorological Service has announced that some areas have accepted more rain from the beginning of the month than they receive as a whole throughout the spring. He warned that rainfall will continue until the weekend.
