The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has spoken of “execution” of 52 Alawites, the community from which the deprived President Bashar al -Assad comes from the security forces conducting a large -scale operation in the western part of the country.

Security forces today sent aid and carried out important ‘broom’ operations to this province after unprecedented deadly conflicts with faithful fighters in Bashar al -Assad.

“Security forces executed 52 Alawites in Al Sir and Al Muktariga settlements” in the province of Latakia, according to a video, whose authenticity was certified by the Observatory, as well as testimonies of victims’ relatives.

The Observatory and Fighters have published videos showing dozens of corpses with political clothing stacked in the backyard of a house while women cry there.

In another video, men with military surrounding seem to order three people to go behind each other before they are shot in touch.

The French agency was unable to confirm these videos from an independent source.

The Observatory had previously stated that clashes from yesterday, Thursday, have caused the deaths of 72 people, 36 of whom were members of the security services, 32 were faithful to Assad and four were civilians.

These deaths raise the overall report of the observatory to 124 dead from Thursday.

Following the fall of Assad on December 8, which was overthrown by a coalition of Islamist organizations, the new Syrian authorities launched operations with the aim of eliminating the “regime’s remains”, in particular targeting the Alawite strongholds in the western part of the country.

Turkey has warned today against any challenge that threatens peace “in Syria and in the region”, after the violent clash in Latakia, in the western part of the country, the Foreign Ministry spokesman said.

“Tensions in Latakia and its surroundings and the targeting of security forces can endanger the efforts to lead Syria to unity and brotherhood (…) Such challenges may become a threat to peace in Syria and the region,” he said.

Turkey, which supports the provisional government in Damascus, has developed thousands of soldiers on Syrian territory.

The Reuters agency notes that it is Turkey’s first comment on Syrian security conflicts with fighters allegedly linked to false leader Bashar al -Assad.

Meanwhile, at least 300,000 Syrian refugees have returned to the country after the fall of Assad’s regime in early December 2024, according to the UNHCR.

In addition, 900,000 internal displaced Syrians also returned to their homes, Celine Smith, a UNHCR spokesman, said at a press conference in Geneva.

From December 8 until now, “we have now exceeded 300,000 returns. As for the internal displaced, we are now almost 900,000 people who have returned from the end of November. So, in total, 1.2 million people have returned from the beginning of December, “Smith explained.

Almost half of the refugees who returned to the country came from Turkey, according to figures yesterday, Thursday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“From December 8, more than 133,000 Syrians have volunteered to their country. As stability is settled in Syria, this number will increase. We do not force anyone, but if our brothers and sisters want to return, we will facilitate this journey, “Erdogan said.

Nearly three million Syrians fled to Turkey during the Syrian Civil War.
