Russia sent soldiers through an abandoned gas pipeline to grow behind the Ukrainian line of the front
The Russian forces have launched an attack to repel and cut Ukrainian troops in the Kursk area of Russia, in an attempt to remove a negotiating paper from Kiev in possible peace talks after suspension of US military aid.
“All units across the Kursk front have passed on the attack,” said Russian military commander Alaountinov, according to the Russian News Agency TASS.
According to the Ukrainian open source Deepstate mapping service, Russia sent soldiers through an abandoned natural gas pipeline to grow behind the Ukrainian line of the front.
Ukraine’s General Staff told the Telegram that its forces fired twelve attacks in the Kursk area, which borders northeast Ukraine, while 14 battles were in progress.
The invasion of Kursk last summer surprised the Kremlin and led tens of thousands of residents to leave the country, marking the first foreign military attack on Russian territory from World War II. During the attack, Ukraine took control of the shout, a significant natural gas transport hub near the border of the two countries.
Now, the territories that Ukraine had occupied in Kursk have declined by almost a fifth in less than three weeks, according to Deepstate data.
“Russian forces are further stepping up off aggressive operations in selected areas of the front line, probably to exploit any immediate or long -term impact of US aid interruption to Ukraine,” the US Institute for the Institute of Study said in a report.
The Russian advancements are marked as US President Donald Trump is pushing Ukraine to proceed with a peace deal, and there is evidence that the Kremlin could accept a temporary truce under certain conditions.
American and Ukrainian officials are preparing to meet on Tuesday in Saudi Arabia in an effort to improve their relationships and restore US military assistance and information to Kiev, which were interrupted by Trump after a strong disagreement with his 28th,
Ukraine reported extensive missile attacks by Russia overnight, including a blow to the Donetsk area that killed at least 12 people.
For its part, Russia announced that a large oil refinery near St. Petersburg was hit by an unmanned aircraft.
Zelenski said the latest attacks prove that Moscow’s goals in its invasion of Ukraine “remain unchanged”.
