One worker was killed and three others were injured by an explosion in a oil refinery in her Riazan city Russiathe Russian agencies Tass and RIA broadcast.

“During scheduled technical work, performed by the employees of the contractor (…) the equipment was decompressed” reported Tass citing a refinery representative.

This refinery is owned by Rosneft and has often been targeted by Ukrainian unmanned aircraft. In February, he interrupted his operation after such an attack.

The Riazan refinery produces 13.1 million metric tonnes (262,000 barrels per day) or about 5% of Russia’s total production. In 2024 its production reached 2.3 million tonnes of gasoline, 3.4 million tonnes of diesel, 4.2 million tonnes of oil fuel and 1 million tonnes of aircraft fuel.
