Permanent representative Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris stressed that “the world longs for peace in Gaza”, stressing that both the Israelis and the Palestinians deserve peace.
The UN Special Coordinator informed the UN Special Coordinator on the Middle East, Sigrid Kag, stressing that “hostages must be released immediately and unconditionally” on the UN Special Council on the United Nations.
Mrs Kag has strongly condemned hostage -taking, as well as the fact that there are well -founded reasons to believe that hostages can suffer sexual violence and abuse.
He also strongly condemned the extensive murders and injuries of civilians and the destruction of non -military infrastructure in Gaza.
“Nothing can justify the collective punishment of the Palestinian people,” he said.
Mrs Kang reiterated her call for a constant ceasefire and called on the parties to increase efforts to end human pain. It rejected the forced displacement of the Palestinian population from any part of the occupied Palestinian territory, which “would be a serious violation of international human rights and humanitarian law”.
The escalation of violence on the occupied West Bank, he added, is deeply alarming.

Greece expressed its condolences for the loss of members of the Unops and UNRWA staff and wished the injured rapid recovery.

Greece recognized the positive impact of the truce and the hostage -release agreement in Gaza, while expressing its deep concern over hostilities and the growing number of victims of civilians. He strongly condemned Hamas’ terrorist attacks on October 7 and demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.
Mr Sekeris stressed that “Gaza residents are suffering because of the intolerance of Hamas and the revival of Israeli businesses”. He called for the immediate and complete implementation of the truce agreement, the smooth flow of humanitarian aid throughout Gaza and the restoration of access to basic services such as water and electricity. He reiterated that UNRWA’s role remains critical and irreplaceable.
Greece has emphasized its commitment to international law, inviting in respect of the fourth Geneva Convention on the protection of civilians in 1949 war and stressing that as it is pointed out in resolution 2334 of the Security Council “the acquisition of territories by force is unacceptable under international law”. He condemned the increase in settlement activities on the West Bank, noting that they are undermining the solution of the two states.
He expressed particular concern about the escalation of violence and the displacement of about 40,000 people, mainly from refugee camps on the North West Bank, while condemning the attacks on civilians and infrastructure.
On the occasion of Ramadan and the upcoming Easter, Greece reaffirmed the importance of preserving the status quo in the sacred places of Jerusalem.
In addition, Greece has urged to be dumped and supported the efforts of the US, Egypt and Qatar to reopen the negotiations. He supported the revival of the political process for the solution of the two states and welcomed the forthcoming international conference in New York under the chairmanship of France and Saudi Arabia, as well as the Gaza recovery and reconstruction initiative presented by Egypt.

Transitional permanent representative of the United States, Ambassador Dorothy Shay, rejected responsibility for the recent escalation in the Gaza Strip in Hamas, stating that the organization “bears full responsibility for the continuing war in Gaza and for Gaza”. He also pointed out that “every death could have been avoided if Hamas had accepted the bridge proposal that the United States submitted last Wednesday.”
Israel: “We will do everything to protect our people from terrorism”
On the part of Israel through his permanent representative to the UN Ambassador Dan Danon informed that the Israeli forces “eliminated several senior Hamas and Palestinian Islamic jihad” as part of the latest operations. He emphasized that “they will not stop until all their people return to their home.”
“The comparison between our hostages and the terrorists held in Israel is outrageous. You have no doubt anyone who attempts to equate these two cases consciously promotes Hamas propaganda. There will be no refuge for the terrorists – neither in Judea and Samaria, nor in Gaza, nor in Lebanon, nowhere. We will do everything necessary to protect our people from Palestinian terrorism, from Houthi terrorism, from Iranian terrorism, from any form of terrorism. If the story has taught us something, it is that we cannot trust people to do it for us, ”he said.
France called on Israel to “repeat unconditionally the provision of humanitarian aid, to end the bombings, to follow the logic of the dialogue, and to stop responding to wilderness by liberation of violence.”
