Millions of Turks came to the polls for the presidential anointing of the opposition Plk. At least 10 million gave their vote to Imamoglou
Response from Constantinople
A large number of Turkish citizens came to the ballot box of the Republican People’s Party (MCS) of the opposition across the country today Sunday to cast their vote on the only candidate to make the party for the presidential elections – whenever they are.
Citizens voted in two ballots, one for party members and another, the so -called “solidarity ballot”, where non -members vote. A total of 5,600 ballot boxes have been set up in the country’s 81 provinces.
Prolongation
The vote began at 8:00 and was about to end at 17:00. However, it was considered that an extension should be extended by 8:30 pm so that everyone who wishes can vote.
Early estimates reported that the votes may have reached 13 million. However, RKKur President Ozgur Ozel said that at least 10 million people voted in favor of Ekrem Imamoglu, who is in custody in the highest security prisons of Silvria (Marmaras prisons) from noon.
It is noted that the PLK measures of 1.5 million members, while the number of free voters voting in solidarity ballots is unknown.
But at a time when Turkey is experiencing unprecedented events, such as the imprisonment of President Erdogan’s most popular opponent, popular indignation is expressed in the ballot box. Thus, even the extension of the voting was not enough to include the volume of voters, who continue to come to the polls to give the anointing to Ekrem Imamoglu.
Simple citizen now Imamoglou
Imamoglou is now a mere citizen, following a court ruling issued at noon. The competent Court of Justice ruled that Imamoglu should be detained, as charges of establishing and leading criminal organization, bribery, inappropriate behavior, illegal record of personal data and distorting tenders. In addition, Imamoglou was suspended by his duties by decision of the Turkish Ministry of the Interior.
A total of 48 of the 89 suspects were arrested in the framework of the “Corruption” investigation against the Metropolitan Municipality of Constantinople (IMM), while 41 of them were taken to impose judicial action measures.
With the mobilizations of hundreds of thousands of citizens continuing, the political situation in Turkey is extremely tense. Also typical is the statement-name of the Mayor of Ankara, Mansour Yavas: “About 20 million people voted in the qualifiers. If 20 million people are voting today in a ballot box that is not mandatory, then it is time for early elections. “
