The State Department has informed Congress today on its intention to reorganize the USAID Service and to discontinue its remaining functions that are not in line with the government’s priorities, Foreign Minister Marko Rubio said.

Rubio’s announcement states that USAID “has been deceived by its original mission for a long time. As a result, the benefits were low and the costs are too high. “

“Thanks to President Trump, this economically irresponsible time is over. We are reorganizing foreign aid programs to align with what is best for our United States and citizens, “he added.

According to the announcement, Congress has been informed of the State Department’s intentions to launch a reorganization that includes the “re -election of some USAID functions by July 1 (…) and the interruption of other USAID functions that are not aligned with the priorities”.

Following Donald Trump’s return to the White House, billionaire’s government efficiency service launched a USAID shrinkage and integration of those functions left over to the State Department. The government has fired hundreds of workers and contractors and interrupted billions of dollars of tens of millions of people around the world.

Rubio said at the beginning of the month that more than 80% of USAID programs were interrupted.
