The European Commission will allocate € 1.3 billion for the development of critical technologies that are strategically important to Europe’s future and its technological sovereignty through the work program of the Digital Europe (Digital Working Program) for the period 2025-2027 adopted today.

The work program focuses on the development of artificial intelligence (TN) and its use by businesses and public administration, computing cloud and data, cyber -retention and digital skills.

In particular, the main priorities of the Digital Working Program is to improve the availability of productive TN in key areas such as health; support for European digital innovation hubs (EDIH), so that companies have access to technical expertise and opportunities to test technologies; and the disasters; the improvement of cyber -resolution; the development of the ability of the European Union (EU) educational institutions (EU) cultivate and attract people with qualifications; promoting the structure of the EU’s digital identity wallet, as well as promoting digital transformation.

Hena Virkunn, an executive vice -president of technological sovereignty, security and democracy, said: “The starting point for European technological sovereignty is the investment in advanced technologies and the ability of citizens to improve their digital capabilities. With the opportunities provided by the “Digital Europe” program, we ensure that new technologies – and with them the new opportunities – are accessible to European citizens, businesses and public administrations. ”

Digital is the EU’s first funding program to focus entirely on promoting digital technology in businesses and citizens. With a budget of EUR 8.1 billion in the context of the current multi-year fiscal framework 2021-2027, it is already formed the digital transformation of Europe’s society and economy.
